ChatPC-Silk News-2-You Pages
Step 1: Downloading Files
First Time Users - Before you upload weekly N2Y pages to your device, you will want to upload the N2Y Main (Starter) Page. The page will serve as a navigation page and will only need to be uploaded once. Click here for instructions
Note: If you are running the SE software on the chatPC Silk, you may proceed with the following directions. If you are not running SE, you must update your ChatPC-Silk before uploading News-2-You pages. To update the ChatPC-Silk, visit the ChatPC Support Section on our website and choose the appropriate ChatPC Updater.
Starter Page
In the section below, find the News-2-You Edition you want to download, click your desired version, choose Save and download the files to your PC.

Step 2: Getting Files to Your Device
- -plug the included USB cord into your laptop or desktop computer and the other end into the ChatPC-Silk
- -If using Windows XP or older: choose Cancel and the Active Sync box when it asks you which programs you would like to sync, then choose Explore button
- -or if using Windows Vista or 7: choose Connect Without Setting up Device, then choose the File Management button
- -double click My Windows Mobile-Based Device
- -double click the CF Card Folder
- -double click the Import Folder
- -drag and drop the downloaded N2Y page set into the Import folder and close the window.
- -the N2Y page set will begin to import automatically after about 20 seconds
- -once file transfer is complete, unplug the USB cord from the device
- -open the vocabulary file you are currently using for your student on the ChatPC-Silk
- -Click on Edit>Edit Mode (red Edit Mode will appear in the bottom left of device)
- -choose Edit>Modify Vocabulary
- -choose Import Pages
- -find and tap on all the N2Y weekly pages you just downloaded from the website (will say 18 or 20 location depending on which you downloaded from the Saltillo website) and tap Choose
Step 3: Link Pages
- -go to your N2Y Main (Starter) Page
- -press and hold on the button you would like to navigate to your N2Y Weekly Page Set
- -choose Edit button
- -type the current N2Y week's name in the Label box
- -search for a symbol, if desired
- -tap the Actions tab
- -find Navigate in the pull down list and choose Add
- -choose the 18 or 20 location current N2Y week's main page (example: 18 Location Moon Mission) and Choose
- -press OK in the top left to save your changes
- -test the modified button to make sure it navigates to your N2Y current week's main page
- -test the Home, Go Back, and Activities buttons on that page to make sure they navigate appropriately
- -press Edit>Edit Mode to exit Edit Mode (red writing should disappear from bottom left)
Your News-2-You pages are now ready to use!
