How do I update the software in my ChatPC-Silk?
As a precaution, backup or export any custom vocabulary files from the device to the DesktopChat SE software on your computer in case something should happen to the library during the update process.
Download the appropriate file from our website(select the file that has the same speech engine and symbol library as your device).
Connect the ChatPC-Silk to your computer.
Microsoft ActiveSync(or Windows Mobile Device Center if it is a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer) will come up and run. Connect up as a guest(or click on Connect without setting up device if it is Windows Mobile Device Center).
Double click on the updater file to open it. Click on Run.
Click on Update ChatPC Software.
It will confirm that you want to update your software. Click on Yes.
It will then ask if you want to update your library.
Tap on No if you want to keep your current library in place or tap on Yes if you want to restore the library back to the factory default condition and wipe out any existing custom vocabulary files.
Once it is finished, it will say that the update was successfull and to do a soft reset on the device.
Soft reset the unit by pressing and releasing the reset button on the right side of the unit.
As it is rebooting, tap on Yes to any Program is from an Unknown Publisher warnings and allow the software to run.
Click on Exit on the software on the computer.
Disconnect the device from the computer.
Once the ChatPC-Silk is rebooted tap on Help->About and verify that the version of software has been updated.
