- Backup or Export to File any custom vocabulary files that you want to save in case something should happen to the library during the backup process.
- Have DesktopChat SE closed down.
- Download the appropriate file from our website(select the file that has the same symbol library as your current DesktopChat SE installation).
- Once downloaded, double click on the file to run it.
- Click on Update DesktopChat Software.
- It will then ask if you want to update your library.
- Tap on No if you want to keep your current library in place or tap on Yes if you want to restore the library back to the factory default condition and wipe out any existing custom vocabulary files.
- It will then say that The DesktopChat SE application update has successfully completed.
- Click on Exit.
- Now start DesktopChat SE.
- Click on Help-> About and verify that the version of software has been updated.
- To use the files backed up in step 1, close down DesktopChat SE if it is open and then copy the files to C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Application Data\Saltillo Corporation\DesktopChat SE\Import(for a Windows XP computer where *user* is the user you are logged in under as) or C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Roaming\Saltillo Corporation\DesktopChat SE\Import(for a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer where *user* is the user you are logged in under as).
- Then start DesktopChat SE and after about a minute it will start importing the files.
