This workshop will provide an overview of core vocabulary and how it is represented in Saltillo systems.  Core vocabulary is comprised of the words we use for communication regardless of context.  About 80% of the words we use will be core, and teaching these words to individuals using AAC is particularly important.  In this workshop, participants will develop an understanding of what core vocabulary and how it fits in with language development and communication.  Participants will explore core vocabulary with WordPower through a hands-on activity.  Strategies for teaching core vocabulary within lessons and daily routines will be discussed. Participants will plan for use of core vocabulary in social and academic environments.

Devices are optional, but if you have a NovaChat, Via Pro or TouchChat app to follow along it is encouraged.
